ITPC was established in 2001 under the auspices of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. It also enjoys a strong support and guidance from the Shenzhen ITPC Energy and Environment Technology Institute (ITPC) and the government authorities concerned.
ITPC is a non-profit and tax-exempted public organization with a team of 160 experienced professionals. It has shown strong R&D capacity. ITPC provides strong backing to ITPC in addressing the need for identifying, acquiring and adapting advanced technologies for improving energy efficiency and protecting the environment.
To support ITPC's activities, ITPC has mobilized and contributed US$ 1 million to ITPC under a trust fund project with UNIDO. Through the project activities, ITPC will be able to draw on UNIDO's experiences, its information, network system, project development and promotion methodologies, etc.
ITPC provides a valuable international cooperation platform for solution of sustainable development in energy field, especially in the fields of new energy and renewable energy utilization. A evaluation activity will hold during “China HI-tech Fair” on Blue Sky Award- Global Top Ten Investment Scenarios To Apply New Technologies For Renewable Energy Utilization, also an International Workshop on Renewable Energy Technology and Investment (RETI) will hold at the same time each year, the Bluesky Award and RETI Workshop will hold by ITPC annually to provide a cooperation and exchange chances for the professional persons in the renewable energy fields.
ITPC plays the roles of strengthen and link the existing ECDC/TCDC information systems and data banks established by different UN and bilateral and governmental institutions, and link their services so as to cover a spectrum of information services on technology capacities, financing resources, investment proposals, technology offers and needs, partner matching, inventories and directories of institutions, etc.; to promote technological and information networking among research institutes and scientific bodies. Such efforts should be closely linked to initiatives, taken to promote development of strategic alliances among technology firms.
At present, ITPC focus on following technologies for promotion, including: City waste incineration to energy, landfill gas recovery and utilization as energy, the seawater flue-gas desulphurization system for coal-fire power plant, Phascon technology for ac motor power-saving, and CDM projects for Green House Gas reduction, etc.
